Hiya..! Fellow Honda EU2000i owner here, as well as Old Wooden Boat Koo... um, err... anyway, having been into my carburetor as well, experience has taught me that if you lay it up for more than say 5 days or so, you need to drain the fuel from the bowl. Honda really should have put a knob on that screw so we don't have to hunt up a narrow screwdriver every time, but of course we can probably fabricate some sort of extension thingy and glue or solder it on... Thanks for the inspiration to continue on days when my resolve to stay married to an old wooden boat falters...

Brilliant, Peter. Your jig for making the porthole surrounds was a revelation, so straightforward and clear. I have an old woodworking magazine story for a round mirror surround that you need a physics degree and seven fingers on each hand to build ! Keep up the great work. Cheers

Ha! In the UK we call it Shipwright's Disease. Same symptoms, same prognosis. Treatment is usually lots of elbow grease and flexing of wallet. Regarding the Alternator... It's most likely the diodes or voltage regulator... Take apart.. and check all 4 coils... 3 on the outside can be Star (all 3 coils on one end join together, forming a star shape) or Delta (forms a ∆) .. it's just a game of measuring the impedances and seeing if they are the same.. also check each for shorting to the metal former that the coils are wound into.. (ideally with a mega) and check the rotating coil and also check for shorting. Look at everything carefully to see if there are signs of burning. They are probably both ok.. If not you could rewind it.. which is easier than you think.. though don't listen to the radio as I kept loosing count. The diode/regulator pack varies so much it's difficult to explain. In the UK there are places that repair Alternators.. there must be somewhere where you are. Or is there a Canadian vehicle Alternator that will fit? that's a traditional Alternator, not computer controlled! Remember to check the rotation! I have 3 older type Bosch Alternators on my engine they have easy to remove brushes and regulator (in a lump of plastic) which can be changed to alter the voltage... another way is use an external regulator.. but the price can be more than a new alternator. I remember a video of yours talking about a manual method.. but that is something I don't recommend... for many reasons! Regarding your pillar drill have you checked the motor.. brushes/armature or capacitor?.. Bearings and belt.. Is there a bad connection or thin wire etc. Remember to check when cold and just after a bit of heavy use., bearings can seize if hot. btw... Scuttles! not Portholes...

Hope you have a splendid summer Peter! The choice of music was excellent 👍. The easiest way to make a round circle from wood is to make a 1/6th template out of thin plywood,2-3mm . To do this the radius of the outer circle is bisected on the perimeter of the diameter and should be exactly 6. Then same for inside radius.🤜🤛
